Inside Atelier Kids
A homelike, safe space where children experiment and learn.
A home is a warm, welcoming place where you are safe during difficult times. We follow the strictest health measures. ‘Home’ is the inspiration behind our new location in the heart of High Park/Bloor West Village. The centres of Reggio Emilia served as a starting point for us. Outdoor education is emphasized at every turn, along with the introduction of our new focus on urban gardening.
Besides being aesthetically pleasing, our centre boasts a safe, clean and secure environment to help make the centre comfortable for your child and your family. Our centre is constructed of steel with advanced fire suppression systems. We have two separate HVAC systems with HRVs & HEPA filters to reduce allergens and contagions. We also have an outdoor stroller storage area for convenience.
In the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the environment is considered the 3rd teacher. What does this mean for your child? Everything about our school is deliberate. Natural and non-toxic wooden toys, lack of clutter and light-filled rooms create a relaxed environment where children feel at ease in putting their own unique stamp on their surroundings.
We have monitored security systems and external cameras, with restricted access to ensure that only those who belong in the centre gain access. We have a backup generator so if the electrical system fails, it provides an additional layer of security for your child and convenience for you. We have an outdoor studio or “atelier” in our play yard.
To create a calm environment, we used muted tones throughout the centre. To promote independent hygiene habits, which are so critical now, we installed custom kiddie toilets and sinks. We engage a cleaning service every evening to do a deep clean, to prevent disease transmission.
Our daycare playground is natural and High Park is a short walk away
Tours are currently being held during regular business hours. We invite you to visit us and see how we differ from the rest.
Will my child get an opportunity to play outside?
Absolutely! So much is based on the natural world. Providing opportunities for our earliest citizens to engage and respect the environment seems like a great place to start. Our playground was created to get kids outside to explore fallen logs, sandboxes, planting gardens, tree stumps and with lots of room to roam freely. Our proximity to High Park and other community parks in Toronto creates boundless opportunities to experience the outdoors through every season.
